What are the Benefits K9 Fitness Training?
Strength
One of the major benefits of incorporating muscle building and strengthening activities into your dog’s daily exercise is that it assists to prevent injury. This is achieved by building muscle to support and give stability to the joints and tendons and increase bone density. They also increase the cardiovascular system and reduce fat preventing obesity and help maintain a healthy weight. For overall health, they improve gastrointestinal regularity, strengthen the immune system and improve sleeping and eating patterns.
Balance
The goals of balance and stability activities are to enhance the proprioceptive feedback (body awareness), encourage weight shifts and muscle contractions, facilitate balance and function. Balance work enables you to target postural muscles and reflexes. It works the whole body with contraction and co-contraction of many muscle groups, from the shoulders and forelimbs, all the way down the spine and core, to the hips and hind legs. For us humans, pilates exercises seek to improve balance
Flexibility
A well-stretched muscle more easily achieves its full range of motion. This improves athletic performance and functional abilities, such as reaching, bending, or stooping during daily tasks. Stretching can also be a great way to get you moving in the morning or a way to relax after a long day. For us humans, activities such as yoga combine stretching and relaxation and also improve balance, a wonderful combination.
Stamina
Exercise increases stamina and overall energy levels over a long period of time. Cardiovascular exercises increase the efficiency with which oxygen gets supplied to the muscles in your dog's body. Over a period of time, this will enhance and increase stamina and endurance levels. Your dog will feel less tired after a session of physical workout. Exercises that focus on strength building gradually increase the body’s ability to lift heavier loads for longer periods without feeling fatigue.
Coordination
Coordination is the ability to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently. The benefits of improving coordination go ways beyond the purely physical aspect. These exercises utilize an area of the brain known as the cerebellum, which is linked with the ability to think and also how fast information are processed. It seems that exercises that require coordination can help to make your dog smarter and give him better self-control.

Even more about Fitness Training
Each Class starts and ends with some basic warm-up exercises and stretches.
Body awareness exercises are mostly done through the use of targets, this could be a nose-touch, a paw target, or one with any other body part.
Balancing and Strengthening exercises are done with the help of steps and platforms, and balancing equipment.
Movement often requires just very small body movements that isolate certain muscles and will build core strength, balance, focus, and endurance. It might not always look like the dogs are moving a lot or working out hard but, they are.
Safety is of uppermost importance, so repetitions are short, and an exercise is finished, when the dog appears to be tired. Activities should be challenging, but also enjoyable and comfortable.
This course focuses to work on your dog’s core strength and body awareness, but it doubles as an excellent source of mental stimulation and enrichment for all kinds of dogs, which helps keep them sharp and burns off excess energy in a healthy way.
